  • * Castle Hill Resort and Spa was constructed at the turn of the 20th century as a private mansion for Allen M. Fletcher, governor of Vermont from 1912 to 1915. Interiors feature original 1905 wallpaper as well as many antique lighting fixtures and sycamore woodwork. Also reminiscent of an earlier time is the ornate oval-shaped dining room, which resembles the private clubs of the early 20th century. The 8,000-square-foot (743 square meters) spa is located in what used to be the mansion's carriage house. In warmer months, Vermont's Green Mountains offer a wide variety of hiking and mountain biking trails, three miles of which can be found on property. In addition, guests can take advantage of special wellness getaways designed to help them address individual health needs. Because of its mountain scenery and Victorian atmosphere, the resort is a popular locale ... more on spafinder.com
