Professional Review :This resort and casino is like an oasis among endless fields of corn. It offers Vegas-style gambling, entertainment and lodging in the middle of nowhere. The resort is modern and unique with its crescent shape and muted rust color scheme. Riverside is a small farm community best-known as being the "future birthplace of Captain Kirk" and the locale for the annual Star Trek convention. Needless to say, this resort has kicked things up a notch around here.The hotel is approached via an elegant drive lined with magnificent fountains. The luxurious main entrance, with its glass facade and door-to-door service, welcomes guests to the large, art-deco-furnished lobby that captures the resort's motto of "Live it up." Two 40ish couples, celebrating anniversaries and birthdays were beamed down in Riverside Iowa, home of starship captain James T. Kirk. They found: A) The golf course is overrated and certainly not the best in Iowa. Spirit Hollow in Burlington, connected with, but not at Catfish Bend Casino, is probably the most underrated in the area.
