Not as advertised

While the website made South Seas look like one big resort, it is actually VERY divided - sort of the "haves" and "have nots." We stayed in one of the Bayside Villas, which is on the "have nots" side. Great Resort

We just returned from a wonderful stay at South Seas Resort on Captiva Island. After reading so many of the negative reviews prior to leaving, I felt compelled to write about our great experience. Just so that you understand where my point of view is coming from I will say that we are a family that travels a lot to both domestic and exotic locations and only stays at the best hotels and resorts. ... Beautiful beach, grounds, pools, but service needs some help

My family and I stayed at the South Seas Resort the first week in July. We book at a Marina Villa but when we got their were told we were upgraded to a beach villa (which is what we wanted anyways!) So I guess I will get the negative out of the way. We checked in about 3:30 I believe and when we got to our villa it wasn't cleaned. There was wine on the table, cereal bowls in the sink, smears on the windows and beds/bathrooms a mess. After my parents complained to the front desk we were told they would get on it ASAP. Clueless in Captiva

This was the second time my husband and I stayed at South Seas Resort in Captiva. The first time was before Hurricane Charlie, and the resort had been rebulit in the last 2 years, seemingly bigger and better. We had such a great time we decided to visit again for our one year wedding anniversary. We called the number listed on the website to make our reservation. The woman on the phone told us we would be receiving a $100 resort credit for booking a 3 night stay, because of a summer promotion. We were pretty excited. We booked a harborside water view king room for $179 a night + tax + resort fee ($12 pp per night) The day we were leaving for Captiva, we called to remind them that we would be arriving late, and to not give up our room, that we would be there around 10 p.m. After driving ... So ready to go back!

I absolutely loved South Seas! After reading some of the reviews I wasn't really that excited to go but I am glad I did. You may have some problems getting there from the airport and it does take a while to get there. On your way there stop by a grocery store to buy stuff like pop and paper towels. When we got there checking in went really fast surprisingly. We stayed in the Marina Villas and our place looked exactly like the one on the website.
