Geared to a younger, more active crowd than the Four Seasons and San Ysidro Ranch, this stunning oceanfront hotel is as friendly toward conventions as it is towards families, though for the latter the DMZ runs Friday through Sunday.The grounds here are as private, or more so, than those at the Four Seasons, but neither can compete with the sublime residential ambience that awaits at San Ysidro Ranch. That said, the predominately younger clientele here is able to afford the latter's $1,000 a night tariff, but here they can make more noise. The Bacara is one of those properties that tries desperately to be a five star property, but will not make it. It's all about the service.
