Ticks or bedbugs weren't what I was looking for

We had stayed there once before with no issues, and it was on our route so decided to stay there again. Checked in and were just about to settle in for the night when I noticed a couple of bugs next to my wife's hand. To make a long story short, they looked like ticks to me, I crushed one ...
