EconoLodge? Never again!
It is usually my habit to forward emails, letters, and other correspondence of praise. Unfortunately, this is not one of those occasions. On Friday, June 30, 2006, while returning north from a Florida vacation, my wife and I decided to take advantage of our AAA membership for a discounted rate at one of their facilities. Our calculations led us to choose the EconoLodge, Florence, SC location. By mobile, we telephoned well in advance (5pm), and reserved a non-smoking room for the night. Due to traffic, however, we were unable to arrive and check-in until about 9pm. As a regular business and leisure traveler, I stay at a variety of motels and hotels. I have unfortunately gotten used to motels that are run-down and even unclean, with uncaring, rude, non-American staff and owners at this price level. - So this motel was a very pleasant surprise. ...
