Wildcatter Ranch – The Resort Ranch on the Texas Range
As we pulled up to the hotel entrance of the Wildcatter Ranch, Major, a Blood Hound and the unofficial mascot of the Wildcatter, lay sprawled on the drive way, snoozing away the afternoon in the warm Texas sunshine. This is perfectly acceptable behavior at the Wildcatter Ranch. In fact, relaxation is encourage by Wildcatter Ranch Owner Anne Skipper.
Relax and Recharge at Wildcatter Ranch
The Wildcatter Ranch infinity pool and hot tub look over 1,500 privately-owned acres of lush green valley in Young County, Texas. A hammock, steps away from the Sage Spa, sways in the breeze at the Wildcatter Ranch, located 90 minutes northwest of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. If you have children in tow or prefer the active, outdoor lifestyle, there are plenty of options at Wildcatter Ranch.
From sporting clay to archery, canoeing or horseback riding, Wildcatter Ranch will keep you busy. It doesn’t require any skill to feed the Texas Longhorn cattle or walk a nature trail to climb the Longhorn-shaped tree.
Wildcatter Ranch Lodging Options
Opened in 2007, Wildcatter Ranch offers 16 hotel rooms and 16 Western suites. Each suite has a name such as the Goodnight Loving Room or the Oil Boom Town Suite. Parents with young buckaroos will like the Tee-pee Room with trundle twin beds. Two guest houses are ideal for family reunions. Rates range from $119 to $349, with breakfast buffet and feeding the Longhorns included.
Wildcatter Ranch Steakhouse
You won’t need to leave the ranch if you are looking for hand-cut steaks and home-made barbecue rubs prepared by Bob Bratcher. I’ll have a review of the Wildcatter Ranch Steakhouse restaurant available soon. If your taste-buds tire of beef, pork and seafood, Mi Familia is an affordable Mexican restaurant in nearby Graham, Texas. The Dinner Bell is your best bet for a lunch time meal of chicken fried steak in downtown Graham.
