Turn to Gold at The Fairmont Vancouver Airport

Who doesn’t like being bumped up to First Class at the airport? Well, at The Fairmont Vancouver Airport, for approximately $100 Canadian, you can upgrade yourself  to gold status.  Fairmont Gold is the highest level of service offered within the properties (not all Fairmont Hotels offer Gold level options.) In fact, it’s like staying at a hotel within a hotel. From the exclusive 14th floor private check-in, to full concierge service, complimentary deluxe continental breakfast, complimentary 24-hour access to the Health Club and pool and complimentary canapes in the lounge, you’ll start your vacation, or business travel, with luxury and in style.

Join the club – The Fairmont President’s Club

With all the drudgery and rush, rush attitude that comes with business travel these days, I have come to appreciate the home away from home service that I expect at a Fairmont Hotel. But who am I kidding? My home doesn’t include a 540 square foot studio with a deluxe king bed and air jetted soaker tub.  My room at home doesn’t even come close to a standard Fairmont Gold room ($399-$499 Canadian) check the website for details and special offers. But I am a member of the club at my house (we have high speed internet and the kids open the door for me when I have forgotten my key) and I am a member of the Fairmont President’s Club. As I mentioned in my review of the Fairmont San Francisco, you’d be silly not to join the Fairmont President’s Club simply for the complimentary internet access, let alone the special check-in privileges.

Gold and Diamonds found at AAA Four Diamond Hotel

I think of Vancouver, Canada as  a giant playground, and The Fairmont Vancouver Airport is the swing set that launches me to fun. Located right in the Vancouver International Airport, an early morning fishing departure to King Pacific Lodge is easy with a prior night stay at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport. Simply take the elevator up from the US/International Departures terminal to the hotel. Heck, they even have a fish valet, with a temperature controlled room to stash your prize catch while you continue to play around in Vancouver for the remainder of your stay.

Did I mention that this AAA Four Diamond hotel is the only airport hotel in the world to be recognized by Conde Nast’s Top 100 Gold List? Maybe it’s because of the sound proof rooms, or the way the drapes on the 14th floor open by remote control. Perhaps Conde Nast appreciates the Fairmont beekeepers and is charmed that the hotel makes and sells its own amber honey, or maybe it’s the customer service that keeps this property buzzing? For me, I like the golden touch that makes me feel like a Queen Bee at the Fairmont.
