RV Park Near Slot Canyons in Page, Arizona
Page, Arizona is the hub of the famous Grand Circle, where National Parks, monuments, and historical sites teem with prehistoric Indian ruins and fabulous geological formations.
Right in the middle of Page, Arizona is the Page-Lake Powell Campground which offers an affordable option for touring the Grand Circle. The clean, modern facilities had plenty of shade trees and all of the amenties needed for campers of every level, from tent to uber-motorhome.
Visit Glen Canyon Dam, raft down the Colorado River, or take a short hike to Horseshoe Bend, where the Colorado River flows circuitously around a sandstone spire on its way to the Grand Canyon. Or get out on the water with a boat tour of beautiful Lake Powell.
But most importantly, while you’re there, take of tour of Antelope Canyon, owned and operated by the Navajo Nation’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Photo Tour
On a brisk spring morning I climbed into the back of a four-wheel-drive truck with twelve other avid photographers. We opted for the $50 Photo tour rather than the $32 regular tour, and hindsight proved that it was a good decision.
The truck swung around corners, bumping and tossing our gear. We grabbed backpacks in mid-air, protecting our cameras and tri-pods from sliding out of reach as we sped around corners on our way out of town.
Upon arrival there was a sense of urgency to get into the canyon until we stepped inside. The sandstone cathedral created a collective, jaw-dropping, hushed revelation. Voices dropped to a whisper–we stood in awe of such beauty and majesty.
Antelope Canyon Tours has knowlegable Navajo guides who know exactly when to capture that perfect beam of sunlight that shines briefly into the twisted sandstone walls. We were given the opportunity to capture a slot canyon in its glory, ending up with some photographs that look professional.
