The Exterior of the Jared Coffin House in Nantucket
Nantucket Island is one of the most beautiful places in New England, but it tends to be crowded and pricey in the busy summer months of July and August. If you’ve always wanted to visit, and would like to stay in a beautiful resort or hotel at a great rate, consider visiting in the off-season. The island is much less crowded, and the rates are downright reasonable! Many inns and hotels are closed during part of the winter, but are available for booking at great rates when they do open in the spring.
Here are a few lodging options on Nantucket:
The Jared Coffin House is a historic mansion that was home, at one time, to Jared Coffin, a prominent ship owner. The inn consists of two buildings – the main mansion and a separate building – the Daniel Webster House.
The Wauwinet, located right on the waterfront, is only open from May – October, but is offering a rate guarantee. If you book by April 1, and the rate goes down, the inn will honor the lower rate. Those looking for a good deal should consider staying in May or June when rates are lowest.
Finally, the White Elephant Inn, a series of quaint cottages on the waterfront, is located near boutiques, galleries, and restaurants. It reopens for the season on April 21.
