At least once in your life, head to New York City to experience the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Last year, my family and I shouldered our way into the crowd across from Carnegie Hall right off 7th Avenue. There we had a grand time catching a buzz of humanity while waiting for marching bands and those gigantic helium balloons with their noses or outstretched arms first appearing in our view, enticing us to wonder what was next.
From our vantage point, the buildings framed the show and we were close enough to satisfy that we weren’t among the throngs that couldn’t see. My then 7-year-old’s perch on a parked Toyota Corolla helped. The other kids on the car with him swarmed like ants.
In addition to jockeying for a place among the crowds, hoofing it to 7th Avenue early enough for a choice spot, there is another option. Stay at a hotel along the parade route. There are four offering Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade deals according to CheapOStay, an online provider of hotel rates.
Consider a stay at one of them as an early holiday present. Once the parade is over, you’ll have the rest of New York City to explore. Now for the deals:
It includes 4 Macy’s Parade Grand Stand tickets, three nights in a suite, $100 credit for dinner and more. For the hotel website, click here. For Thanksgiving package, click here. The package must be booked by November 22.
