Affordable Larchmont Hotel
New York city, and Greenwich Village in particular, is jam packed with fine restaurants, music clubs, theater and world class antique shops. It’s an exciting city and it is an expensive city! Thank goodness for clean, affordable places to stay – thank goodness for the Larchmont Hotel.
Greenwich Village Location
Situated in a quiet brownstone neighborhood on a tree lined street off Fifth Avenue, a California girl like myself would not be at all surprised to find Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw or Samantha Jones step out of a nearby antique shop or quaint bistro. That’s the kind of neighborhood that is home to the Larchmont Hotel in Greenwich Village.
As a woman traveling solo in New York City, I felt completely safe walking the streets of Greenwich Village at night. The neighborhood buzzed with energy, yet the Larchmont Hotel offered an affordable piece of air-conditioned New York City real estate for me to temporarily recharge my batteries.
I was in New York attending the TBEX Travel Bloggers Conference. What better place for 300 travel bloggers to descend than New York University’s Cantor Film Center? The Larchmont offered close digs for budget conscious travelers. While the 66 room, European style property offered air conditioned rooms, slippers, bathrobes and color TVs, some guests may not like the shared bathroom design.
Yes, the Larchmont Hotel has shared bathrooms, however, I never had to wait to use the bathroom during my 24 hour stay. Where else can you get a clean room with complimentary continental breakfast for under $200? My room on the sixth floor was a double and rented for $129 weekdays and $145 on the weekend.

The rooms at the Larchmont Hotel offered color tv, air conditioners, telephones, private wash basin and shared bathrooms.
Agreed, Goldilocks and the Three Bears would have scoffed at the complimentary continental breakfast offered in the small cafe. The bear claw pastry was the size of mama bear’s thumb, but the coffee and juice were free and provided a quick pick-me-up. Besides, there are plenty of places to find a good New York bagel with cream cheese in Greenwich Village.
