I did not sit in these comfortable chairs at the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo and discuss the affairs of the day. Samantha Brown may have though.
While I’m on the subject of amazing hotels I would have stayed on if it weren’t for that damn volcano in Iceland, let’s discuss Monaco’s Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo.
In preparation for my trip, I downloaded the “Côte d’Azur, (Monaco)” episode from season one of Samantha Brown’s Passport to Europe. A few minutes in, she checked into the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo and I started panting–that’s where I was going to stay for my night in Monaco. The hotel looked wonderful and, as the last time Brown profiled a hotel in which I’d stayed (Chicago’s Hotel Monaco), I had a better room than she did, I reckoned my experience would be at least as good as hers.
Until the volcano canceled my trip and the extent of my Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo experience was watching Samantha Brown enjoy hers. Jerk. So rather than me waxing on in misery about a five-star hotel in which I didn’t sleep that houses two Michelin-star restaurants in which I didn’t eat in a country I didn’t visit, check out what Samantha Brown has to say about it. The Travel Channel is set to rerun her Monaco episode on May 24 at 12 EDT and PDT. Or you can spend the $1.99 and download it from iTunes.
