New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to experience Chicago. Chicago’s New Year’s Eve Extravaganza at the Navy Pier is a five-hour frenzy of music, drinks and dancing and promises to be an unforgetable event. This celebrity-heavy party will be celebrating more than just a New Year this year.
On New Year’s Day watch as the Chicago Polar Bear Swim Club hosts the annual New Year’s Day Swim at North Avenue Beach. Hundreds of crazy, brave souls will strip down to their swim suits (no whining allowed) and jump into the frigid water. Some of the not-so-brave will go whimpering back to the spectators, who will accept them with laughter and understanding.
The all-suites Embassy Suites Chicago-Downtown offers a full breakfast buffet every morning, and complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a fully equiped fitness center, high-speed Wifi, and a sophisticated Enoteca with an extensive wine list.
Celebrate the New Year in America’s most celebrated city.

For years we’ve gotten rooms at the Embassy Suites in downtown Chicago for New Years Eve because it provides the right touch of exciting without having to involve a lot of alcohol, which is important when you’re dealing with families with young kids. The women would spend the day shopping, the guys would take the kids to the top of the Sears Tower or some other tourist thing, then spend the afternoon at the pool. In the evening, we’d let the kids throw confetti and trash out the room, knowing we didn’t have to clean it up the next day.
Forgot to mention, it’s across the street from Weber Grill, too!
Sounds like a perfect New Year’s celebration. We were there during the summer and enjoyed all of the activities that the city of Chicago offers for tourists.
