This is Bigfoot country, and Bigfoot needs big trees. The Emerald Forest RV Park and Campground has plenty of big trees in the middle of a redwood forest.
Spacious campsites have a clean bath house with free showers, and are tucked away in the forest for extra privacy. RV sites are large and shaded with fire rings and barbecues, with full hook-ups, cable TV and free WiFi. And cabins range from a small suite for two, to a large 3-bedroom, 2-bath family unit.
There’s plenty to do on this part of the North Coast. Golfing at Beau Pre Golf Course in McKinleyville is five miles away. River and ocean fishing can be arranged with local guides. And within 20 miles you’ve got access to Patrick’s Point State Park, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, and Redwood National Park, where some of the world’s tallest trees grow as high as 300 feet and live 2,000 years. It’s a nature-lover’s paradise.
The town of Trinidad sits on the bluffs over-looking the Pacific Ocean. The area is famous for its salmon fishing and dungeness crab, but local oysters, wines and cheeses deserve attention too. They can be found in the local markets and restaurants. Ten miles south is the town of Arcata, the home of Humboldt State University. And ten miles south of Arcata is Eureka, known for its Victorian mansions built by lumber barons. Eureka is developing its waterfront as a Victorian Seaport.
And the search for Bigfoot contintues.

That’s where I stayed last summer, while exploring and taking redwood photos for my California redwood giants page:

Very much enjoyed it. Would recommed it anytime.
Clean, friendly with a lovely redwood canopy. Also, there was excellent dining available nearby – exceeding expectations.
Cheers,
