If you saw our truck and trailer crusing along California’s I-5 Highway, you might mistake us for the Clampett’s. The fictional television hillbilly family transplanted to Beverly Hills, California. Our Ford truck holds two adults, two teens and one Labrador Retriever comfortably. It’s when you add four mountain bikes, two motorcycles and a dog kennel that things start getting a little crowed. Each year our family ventures to Sunriver, Oregon for a week of biking, kayaking, white water rafting and mini-golfing. We’ve rented vacation houses from Mountain Resort Properties for many years.
SunRiver is a resort community located in the high desert of Central Oregon, 11 miles south of Bend. July and August are peak rental months because the weather is usually fantastic this time of year. We’ve stayed at #5 East Park in Sunriver because it is a kid-friendly, small (1,000 square foot) budget rental house with a fully fenced outdoor hot tub. It’s also located next to 36 miles of flat, paved bike trails, the South swimming pool and close to the Country Store and Mall.

Five East Park is a single level, two bedroom, two bath home that could use some updating. It has a gas fireplace, TV and stereo, a carport and sleeps six if you utilize the fold out sleeper sofa bed in the small living room. If you are looking for luxury lodging, Five East Park is not for you. Search Mountain Resort Properties website for your desired price range. Some Sunriver homes are pet-friendly, yet most do not offer fenced properties.

Oh, but Sunriver is wonderful. We were there summer before last, and just kept pinching ourselves! If only it were just a little easier to reach from the SF Bay Area. But then I guess everyone would be there, and the prices would go up…
