After several annual visits to Disneyland, I am ready to share my lodging secret. For our family, the best bet is the Anaheim Camelot Inn and Suites on South Harbor Boulevard.
We usually reserve the family suite – two rooms, one with a king size bed and sleeper sofa, the other with two queen beds and a bathroom. For our family of 4, this is a generous amount of space, but we relish the extra elbowroom after a long day at the park. Rooms range in price from $120 – $269 a night. Check their website for web specials.
The Anaheim Camelot Inn is located right across the street from Disneyland, California Adventures and Downtown Disney. In the morning, it takes us about 7 minutes to reach the front gate. In the evening, it is a quick walk home, even with two kids riding piggyback. And with a pool on the 4th floor, it is even close enough for a quick mid-day break.
In the morning, the Inn serves a light continental breakfast – if you require something more substantial, several quick restaurants are within walking distance, or you could bring breakfast foods and store them in the in-room refrigerator. There is even room service, by way of Millie’s Restaurant down the street.
The only downside – no free Wi-Fi. Because they outsource to a 3rd party, access to the Internet is $9.95 a day. Not a big deal if you are traveling for business; less great if you just want to check out your blog!
