Acclaim Hotel – Sleep with Someone New

I smiled when I read the Acclaim Hotel brochure suggesting I ‘sleep with someone new.’ In fact, the Acclaim Hotel is the new kid on the block – right down the street from Calgary International Airport.

While the hotel may be new to Calgary, the property owners have plenty of lodging experience behind them. They also own Copperstone Resort and Falcon Crest Lodge in Canmore, Alberta. Both places I’d like to check out, as my husband and I enjoyed our time in the charming town of Canmore. In fact, stop at the Grizzly Paw Pub and Brewing Company for the halibut fish and chips, if you find yourself in Canmore. Yet, I digress.

Acclaim Hotel Complimentary Airport Shuttle

When I am traveling for business, I’m a sucker for complimentary airport shuttle service. If I find a clean, affordable hotel, close to an international airport, with free shuttle, I’m friends for life. This particular visit to Calgary I was headed to the Canadian Rockies for horseback riding into the Larches and canoeing at Moraine Lake Lodge. I had come to Canada to experience Banff and Yoho National Parks.

After picking up the rental car, we zipped over for a seamless late night check in at the Acclaim Hotel. The Acclaim offers 123 non-smoking rooms and studio suites with king and queen size beds. With the opening of the on-site Pacini Restaurant, the property no longer offers complimentary breakfast. However, it does offer free wifi, jetted hot tubs on the Star Gazer Sky Deck rooftop, an exercise facility, in room 42″ flat screen TV, DVD player, iPod docking station, phones and a work area.

Affordable Rates

Our room, #210, a platinum king, rented for $143 Canadian under the Manager’s Special. The AAA rate for the room would have been $139 Canadian for this three and a half star hotel room. Of course, there are handicap accessible rooms, but if you have pets, this is not the hotel for you. Check out is at 11 a.m. and check in time is 3 p.m.
