Sunriver Resort – Something for Everyone in Central Oregon
As our mini van, loaded with five teenagers, rolled into Oregon’s high desert, I couldn’t help pointing out the puffy clouds and numerous trees to the Californias in the car. “Look at this place,” I chirped to my captive audience. “Isn’t it beautiful?” The girls nodded in unison and began to come to life in their velour mini van bucket seats. The other teen was still plugged firmly into his iPod, not ready to engage with five female passengers, one of which was his mother.
We drove through the familiar round abouts until we reached our destination, 5 Sandtrap, a property we rented through Sunriver Resort. This was our first time to stay at the north end of Sunriver Resort. Now that our children are teenagers, it is no longer necessary to be a walk or bike ride away from the Sunriver Village or South Swimming Pool. Instead, we have graduated to the quieter side of Sunriver Resort.
Like camp counselors, my husband and I have returned to Sunriver Resort each summer for the past 15 years. Similar to Goldilocks and the three bears, we have slept in many beds at this Central Oregon resort – from Cluster Cabins, to condominiums to places like pet-friendly #5 Sandtrap.
Sunriver Resort: Family-friendly – Pet-friendly
When selecting a rental property through Sunriver Resort, there are many variables to consider. How many people will be staying at Sunriver? Is the property child-friendly and/or pet-friendly? Will you be needing wi fi during your stay? Does the house come with bicycles or will you be renting from the Sunriver Bike Barn? Is a hot tub required? What about air conditioning?
While #5 Sandtrap didn’t have air conditioning, the reverse living plan sent the heat rising to the top floor, with the downstairs bedrooms pleasantly cool at night. We also appreciated the washer and dryer in the house. My husband considered the two car garage a bonus for storing our rented mountain bikes and his various “mountain man” toys.
Reverse living home located near Woodlands Golf Course
This three bedroom, 2.5 bath rental property was located on the north end of Sunriver Resort, near the Woodlands Golf Course. We enjoyed sitting on the front deck at night watching the gorgeous high desert sunsets. The 1,864 square foot house offered a view of Mt. Bachelor and slept eight. We had seven in our party and found the accommodations comfortable. Nightly dinners in meant running the dishwasher after meals. My only knock on #5 Sandtrap, the master bedroom could benefit from a new FlowBed mattressand the house wasn’t wired for Internet access. However, the lack of wi-fi was clearly noted on the Sunriver Resort website.
