4.0: hand hotel, a hands down favorite

last year i bought a ticket to denver, rented a car and hit the backroads looking for some fun and adventure, and of course, ghosts and ghost towns. i am an especially hardcore ghost town enthusiast. and i can't think of a better place for ghost towns than colorado. after doing some research on the internet, i found several ghost towns in fairly close proximity to the town of fairplay. so as is my habit, i drove into town without any reservations and looked for accomadations. as luck would have it, i found the hand hotel. the hotel itself looks like one of those hotels in an old western movie. and in fact, that was exactly what it was designed to look like. inside there are hard wood floors and wood stairs to the second floor which creak when you walk on them. the lobby is cozy and has lots of wood and a rustic feel to it. the hotel also ... ebaynme, a user of Tripadvisor. We ended up booking a room at the Hand Hotel when we realized no rooms were available in all of Summit County. A snow storm was moving in Friday night, and we wanted to be close enough to the mountains to enjoy skiing the next day without the hassel of traffic and potential closings of the Eisenhower Tunnel.
