A "Gem" next to the Jewel of the Missions

When I was planning this particular trip I knew we were going to take the train therefore leaving us without a car. This was not a problem as San Juan Capistrano is a highly "walkable" town. The Mission Inn is a 5 minute walk up Ortega Highway. We did this walk with our handbags and luggage without a problem. If the weather happens to be inclement then I would recommend a taxi to greet you at the train depot. We arrived at the Inn at a quarter to 2 pm, the Inn keepers were at the market so we just waited on the covered porch for them to return. Our wait was brief at that. Romantic & Cozy

This was a last minute trip and we ended up booking the room the same day. I was lucky enough to find a room but not so lucky as the only two rooms available were the ones with two double beds as opposed to a king size bed. Great service, nice area

The "Inn" is an old 50's highway courtyard motel that has been nicely redone. The rooms are a little cozy and lack some modern amenities such as phones or lots of electrical outlets, but they offer you a cordless phone if you want and everyone has a cell phone anyway. We needed to unplug one of the 3 or 4 decorative lamps to charge our laptop. The bathrooms are small but nice, lots of hot water with firehose pressure. Nice towels, soaps, and robes.
